2018 Public Events

May through October - Guided Tours Every Weekend
Saturdays & Sundays 11am and 2pm
Let our historians guide you on a 1.5 hour walking tour through the fort and some of its buildings.
$5/person on site (please arrive 15 minutes prior).
Weekday tours (Mon - Thurs) are available by appointment for groups of 4 to 25 people by contacting us at info@historicfortwaynecoalition.com.

March 31 - Easter Fun Festival
9:00 - 3:00
Detroit Parks and Rec Annual Easter Fun Festival is open to children of all ages (Detroit residents only). Games, face painting, Easter egg hunts with prizes, candy giveaways, bounce houses, Meet the Easter Bunny, and more.

April 7 - National Park Day
10:00 - 3:00
A special day when everyone is invited to help spruce up the site and learn some preservation skills in the process. Sponsored by the Civil War Trust. Meet and register at the Visitor Center at 10am for orientation. Free tee shirts to the firtst 150 participants. No parking fee. Details here.

April 14 - Wayne State University 5K Race
9am - 11am
Race benefits
Street Medicine Detroit and the Robert R. Frank Free Clinic, administered by Wayne State University medical students and professors. Please come out and support this event which helps raise funds to bring medical relief to underprivileged and homeless individuals. Entry Fee is $25 per person or $80 per team. April 28 and 29 - Spring Flea Market
Saturday 10:00 to 4:00, 
Sunday 10:00 to 3:00
Thousands of items! Bake Sale, food vendors, over 70 tables of antiques and collectible goods for purchase. $5.00 entrance fee supports operational efforts of the HFWC to maintain the fort and provide educational programming.

May 5 - Veteran's Recognition Day
9:00 to 5:00
WWII camps and battle re-enactments, military vehicles, talks given by veterans. Veterans and their families will have a private luncheon (by invitation only) from Noon till 1:30pm. More info here

May 5 - Spring 'USO' Swing Dance
6:30 pm to 10:00 pm
Live band! Free dance instruction. Prize raffles. Info here.

May 6 - WWII Living History Day
9:00 to 5:00
Your opportunity to see the real deal as living historians of many eras take over the fort. Info here.

May 12 - Historic Fort Wayne Work Day
Volunteers will be working around the fort on various important projects. Volunteer signup coming soon.

May 19 and 20 - Vintage Base Ball Tournament
Our Early Risers host a weekend-long exhibition with many regional vintage teams! Info here.

June 9 and 10 - Civil War Days
Saturday 9:00 - 5:00,  Sunday

November 10 - Mad Anthony Cyclocross Race
USA Cycling sanctioned event open to the public. Watch and/or race. 

Dec. 1 - Christmas at the Fort
A merry day of guided tours providing a look at our American Christmas through the years - all the way back to the Civil War and beyond. 

Dec. 8 - Christmas Swing Dance
Annual Christmas Cheer Swing Dance featuring 20-pc Dearborn Big Band. Arrive early for complimentary dance lessons.
